Borne has released four albums and EPs since its debut on iTunes in 2003, where from tens of thousands of artists, its hit song “The Guide” from the “Loss of Signal” album, created an iTunes first. It was released simultaneously to all iTunes countries, in the US alone enjoying over 1.5million downloads in one week.

Cameron (37), a Tasmanian by birth has universal appeal to genres beyond rock and commands respect for his diversity across all genres, including soul, country, blues and classical, the latter of which was demonstrated in a special release album “Children”. This was a production in which Cameron sang with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra for a fund-raising special for orphaned African children.

Cameron’s diversity in voice projection and control, his adeptness in guitar accompaniment and clarity of diction; his diversity in vocalising sometimes complex lyric compositions and guitar arrangements has been described in the US as unique.

His achievements include winning the 2007 Independent Music Oz Awards and many of his compositions have been used in US network television programs such as Army Wives and more recently the new series The Philanthropist.

In today’s music world styles are changing. It is time for a new breed of performer, one who does not fit the marketing mould so easily. The rare breed, the individual artist.

Enter Andrew De Silva, a true individual artist. He’s edgy. He’s new and he’s paid his dues. Andrew De Silva’s raw blend of R&B Funk and Rock catapult him into a league of his own. Defying any boundaries set in the musical genres that he incorporates into his fresh fusions, Andrew De Silva can not be pigeonholed.

Andrew’s talents have been recognised internationally. He co-wrote the title track on Dwayne Wiggin’s (Toni Tony Tone) debut album and also featured on vocals. Considering the album also featured Santana, Hootie and the Blowfish, he was in extremely good company. Andrew has also written and worked with artists such as Tina Arena, Marcia Hines, Natalie Bassingthwaithe, Dale Ryder and Jessica Mauboy to name a few.

Andrew’s songwriting prowess ad accomplishments have leaded him into a new publishing deal with BMG.

The most noticed trend in planning a 21st century wedding is relying and shopping on the Internet for wedding gifts, accessories and even attire. Brides and grooms check the Internet for wedding articles, for information, for ideas and unique weddings gifts for their family and attendants and wedding accessories for themselves. The Internet often offers them items they always wanted bu did not know exist. Brides and grooms also appreciate the ease and convenience of shopping from and having everything delivered to their homes or work places without running all over town.

The second very noticeable trend is the deep involvement of a growing number of grooms in the wedding planning process.

The third is personalisation.

Personalisation

Ask any engaged couple what they want their wedding to reflect and you can expect an almost unanimous answer. Today brides and grooms want their wedding to be very personalised and reflect who they are and what makes them special. So, what makes a wedding personalised - what is a personalised wedding?

What was once the norm, is no longer. Gone are the days when all you chose were you weddings attendants, invitations and attire. When you hired a hall you expected them to provide the caterer, the decorations, the musicians, the cake and the flowers. Today, brides and grooms want and get involved in every aspect and plan both the ceremony and reception.

A 21st century wedding includes many elements that when put together create the feel and the atmosphere and make it special and personalised. Whether they plan a most formal evening event or a whimsical afternoon wedding party, brides and grooms planning a wedding today give it their personal touch.

Many 21st century brides and grooms choose their wedding date to correspond with something personal to them. Whether it is connected with a first date, engagement, a birthday, a specific season, a holiday, a numerical sequence like 777 (July 7, 2007) or 888 (August 8, 2008) or even the day their parents or grandparents got married, the date chosen often has a special meaning.

They choose their wedding colour scheme and follow with coordinating as many aspects of the wedding with it including but not limited to the tablecloths and napkins, flowers, cake and decorations. When you attend a current wedding, look around. Is there a colour that runs throughout? Most probably.

Attire

Wedding attire choices have become less traditional and more of personal preference. According to bridal salon owners, the trend for brides married in 2008, andd those planning a wedding in 2009, calls for sleek and relatively simple gown or dress style. Favoured are both plain yet elegant gowns or dresses and gowns or dresses adorned with crystal, pearls and lace.

The major contributors to pulling away from fairy tale gown or dress styles, in favour of elegant simplicity as being the preferred choice for brides, can be contributed to: today’s working, price concious brides who want to adhere to a budget, do not want to sacrifice style or beauty, but want a lot of vale for their money.

The trend for men has also become more casual, offering a choice of a dark suit, or dark pants with a white dinner jacket instead of a tuxedo.

Jewellery

Today’s brides preferred to keep their and their bridesmaids jewellery simple, choosing Swarovski crystal, classic pearl clusters and pearl strand necklaces, with matching earrngs. Bracelets are very popular as gifts for the ladies. Some brides choose to give their bridesmaids jewellery that coordinates with their attire. Yet a growing trend, in step with personalisation, is to give them jewellery in the colour of their birthstones.

Gifts from the Bride & Groom

In keeping up with personalisation the current trend is that brides and grooms give their family and wedding party personalised items.

Some personalise the gifts with their own first names and wedding date, making the gifts a momento of the event. Others personalise them with the first name of the recipient.

A change that is currently taking place is that instead of at the wedding, the majority of brides and grooms plan to present the gifts at the rehearsal dinner.

The Wedding Cake

The wedding cake is the centrepiece of the wedding reception.

The traditional cake is erected from tiers of various sizes all decorated as instructed by the bride and groom and is crowned with a cake top. This cake, baked and decorated by a professional has become so expensive, especially when adding the customary cutting and serving fees, that brides and grooms planning a wedding on a budget started looking for alternatives. Now, what used to be a creative alternative by some became a trand.

Brides and grooms realised that in addition to saving the cutting and serving fees they could also shave off the centrepiece expense and have a dessert at every table. So though they still order at least a single tier cake for feeding each other and photographs they often opt for the two options that are most favoured.

An individual mini wedding cake for each table to make a spectacular and edible centrepiece. For additional fun, guests are invitied to cut and seerve the occupants at their own table.

A cupcake wedding cake tower is a well-liked trend. Most couples top their cupcake tower with a cake tier for the bride and groom. Mini tower is placed as the centrepiece at each table and the cupcakes placed on it serve as the dessert. Both single layer cakes and cupcakes are easily available in supermarkets.

The following is a suggested timetable for wedding planning. It was drawn from various sources. It may be helpful not only as a guideline for when things need to be done, but also to help you think of all the things you might need to do.

Please be aware that this is not intended as a list of “what you must do” instead, read each item as “if you choose to do this thing, this is a rough idea of when you should do it.”

Obviously, what needs to be done when varies depending on where you live (some things will required more lead time in a big city, and less is a small town) as well as you personal priorities.

This list assumes that you can figure out that once you start planning something, you may need to take further steps as you go along. For example, at some point after you order your wedding dress, the shop will receive it and you will need to go in for fittings. It is assumed that you and the shop will discuss this and figure out when to do it. Similarly, after arranging for a band/DJ for the reception, at some point you will need to provide a list of the music you would like to hear. It is assumed that you and the band/DJ can decide when to do this.

At time of engagement

Buy or make a wedding organiser. Think about whether you will want to have it as a keepsake later on; if so, this may influence your decision about what kind of organiser to have. At bare minimum, you should have an organised way to keep track of appointments/payments etc., and a system for keeping track of invitations, gifts and thank-you notes.

Write to your close friends and relatives to let them know, unless you plan to have an engagement party.

Keep up with thank you notes as you receive gifts. The best time to write a thank you note is immediately after opening the gift; unless you receive hundreds of gifts in one day, it should never take more than 6 weeks to send a thank you note (unless you are on your honeymoon).

9 to 12 months in advance

Determine what you and your families expect your wedding to be like. What religion, if any, will the service be performed in? How many guests do you want to have? Is it important to have dancing? A seated meal? Live music? An outdoor setting? Alcohol?

Decide how the wedding will be financed. If parents are helping to pay for it, find out how they want to deal with this. The lowest-stress method for everyone is for the parents to commit a specific amount of money, which the bride and groom can supplement with their own money. However, many parents wish to retain greater control over the budget that this method allows. It may be helpful to do some research about wedding costs in your area before attempting to come up with a budget.

Determine the style and time of day of the wedding. If money is an issue, you can often adjust the time of day so that the reception will be more economical. If you do not have the reception during a common meal time, for example, you will not need to serve a meal.

Select wedding date. This may need to be done in conjunction with selecting ceremony/reception sites.

Select and reserve ceremony/reception sites.

Find a wedding officiant, if one does not come with the wedding site. Speak with your officiant to determine if there are any requirements for them to marry you, and when these requirements need to be met. Discuss also when you should meet to discuss the ceremony.

Select bridesmaids and groomsmen. It is OK not to single one out as the Maid of Honour at this early stage.

Secure a photographer/videographer for your chosen date.

Secure catering arrangements for your reception site, if the site does not come with a caterer.

Secure a florist.

6 to 9 months in advance

Select and order the bridal gown and accessories, or arrange for a seamstress to make it.

Make arrangements for music at your ceremony/reception.

Select and order bridesmaids’ dresses, or arrange for a seamstress to make them.

Start working on guest lists. Typically, there are four: the bride’s family’s list, the groom’s family’s list, the bride’s list and the groom’s list.

4 to 6 months in advance

Order invitations and any other stationary you will need (such as informal notes to use when writing thank yous. Remember that informals engraved with your married name cannot be used until after you are married, so you also need some stationary to use for gifts that arrive before you are married.)

Plan the honeymoon. (Often arranged by the groom.)

Help the mothers to select their dresses.

Plant the rehearsal dinner. (Often given by the groom’s family, so they may do most of the work.)

Register for gifts.

2 to 4 months in advance

Select attire for the men in the wedding party.

Purchase wedding rings and have them engraved.

Obtain any immunisations you will need for the honeymoon.

Make sure out-of-town guests will be appropriately lodged. You may want to reserve a block of rooms at a hotel; the hotel will usually give your guests a reduced rate.

6 to 8 weeks in advance

Mail the invitations.

Consult relevant newspapers for requirements o wedding announcements.

Have a formal portrait taken in wedding gown for newspaper announcement.

Purchase gifts for each other.

Purchase gifts for wedding party.

Purchase going-away outfit, trousseau.

Consult hairstylist about wedding-day hairstyle.

Consult makeup person about wedding-day makeup.

4 to 6 weeks in advance

Investigate legal details, such as naming fiance as beneficiary in will and life insurance, obtaining insurance to cover joint property, consolidating auto insurance, opening joint banks accounts etc.

If you will be changing your names, make a list of where you need to do this and when.

Decide on a seating plan for the reception.

If you will need foreign money for the honeymoon, make arrangements to obtain it.

Be sure attendants are kept informed of rehearsal plans, other commitments they have.

1 to 2 weeks in advance

Make final checks on everything: catering, honeymoon, photographer, videographer, florist, musicians, officiant, rehearsal etc.

Make sure that announcements are addressed, arrange for someone to mail them on the wedding day.

Think about what you are going to take on the honeymoon, decide when you will pack.

Buy traveller’s cheques for honeymoon.

1 to 3 days in advance

Make sure everyone arriving from out-of-town is met by someone, knows where everyone else is staying etc.

Pack an “emergency kit” containing things like spare pantyhose, sewing supplies, panadol etc to take with you to the wedding.

Attend rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. You may choose to give gifts to attendants and each other at this event, or at a more private moment.

They set the atmosphere and are often a focal point as they add beauty and fragrance to any occasion including engagement parties, bridal showers, rehearsal meals and of course weddings.

Before Your Wedding

Before starting your search for your wedding florist/floral designer, you need to choose the time of year for your wedding

Choose the time of day for your wedding

Choose your wedding theme and colours

Decide if your wedding will be casual or formal

Secure both your ceremony and reception sites

Shop for you flower and decorations specialists as early as possible and give them a general idea of what you want. Leave the actual details for 1 to 2 months before the wedding.

Whether yours is a simple at home wedding, a lavish black tie affair or any wedding style in between, you need flowers that are arranged in good taste and coordinate well with all other components of both marriage ceremony and wedding reception.

Check both your ceremony and reception sites to find out if flowers are included in their wedding package, if they have specific in house floral specialists and decorators they work with, and what their policies regarding flowers and wedding decorations are.

Arrange with the management of those that allow you to choose a professional, a specific time slot for the flowers and decorations to be placed. Request that the flowers and decoration professionals confirm a few days before your wedding.

Saving Money

Find out if yours is the only wedding on the date you chose. If not, you may be able to save by coordinating flower arrangements with the preceding or following wedding party and splitting the costs.

Other money saving ideas include:

Using your ceremony flowers and decorations at the reception

Asking the bridesmaids to place their bouquets as centrepieces (they can not carry them throughout the reception and they will take them home anyway)

Choosing seasonal flowers that are common and plentiful in your geographical region

Decorating with purchased or rented potted plants, shrubs and trees in your geographical region

Utilising a floral design or interior decorating school in your area.

Which and how many of the following arrangements will you need?

Altar and aisle arrangements for the ceremony site

Reception table centrepieces

Guest book table

Cake table

Decorations and centrepieces for the reception site

Bridal bouquets

Boutonnieres for the fathers and for the male attendants

Corsages for the mothers

Head dress for the flower girl

Garlands

Flowers or petals for the flower basket.
